Who are we?
The Community Forum has been in existence for over five years
and is made up from local residents, councillors, representatives
from the housing associations and other agencies working on Murdishaw.
The Forum has a constitution and equal rights
policy and hold open meetings at the Community Centre on the third
Wednesday of the month at 6pm.
What are the Forum's aims?
The main aim of the Forum is to improve the quality of life for
those living and working on Murdishaw. Four years ago funded by
SRB we held a community consultation exercise to find out what
the people of Murdishaw thought were the issues that needed addressing.
The result of that consultation gave the Forum an agenda to work
towards over the coming years, to address those issues. As other
issues arise we advise the relevant agencies involved and work
with them to resolve them.
Achievements
We were closely involved in the planning of the Community Centre
and the forming of the management board.
We were able to access funding to have the centre fenced. To
have the area in front of the shops cleared of shrubbery. To have
a waste tipping facility, which will be sited on the estate in
the near future.
We were involved in the traffic calming measures to Barnfield
drive and in partnership with LHT, Groundwork Mersey Valley, Halton
Council and the Community Centre in a major project called "Murdishaw
Green" to improve the wooded area around the chemist and
health centre through to Murdishaw avenue.
What Next?
We will continue to pursue the aims we set out when formed and
from the achievements set out above it shows that local people
can make a difference. We would welcome anyone who thinks that
they can contribute, in whatever way they can to join the Forum
and help make that difference.
