response to research undertaken during 2004, which identified the needs
and interests of older people in Halton, I am pleased to announce a new
service, “Reach for the Stars”. This is a partnership project
between Halton Primary Care Trust and Age Concern Halton.
“Reach for the Stars” helps anyone over 50 yrs who is interested in doing social or educational activities by finding events, courses, groups and sessions to suit their needs and interests. For those who are unable to attend alone we aim to provide a buddy to accompany them. We rely on volunteers for this. Please do contact me if you would like our support. We work with individuals and groups in the Halton area. We are, of course also looking for volunteers who could give a few hours a week to accompany others. This “buddy” role is likely to be a very enjoyable one. I hope you will consider joining this exiting new service.
