MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING

These were accepted as a true and proper record.

MATTERS ARISING

GR and AB have not yet been able to contact the Council Leader regarding a meeting to give an overview of the group’s work.  KM to ask Council Leader and Chief Executive for available dates. Sub group to meet prior to this to discuss issues to be raised.

The Saturday football club is to open at Ashley School for a 6 week trial after February half term.  We discussed issues regarding cleaning, key holder, future venue.  PF said that he would be prepared to support the introduction of the club.

FUNDING ISSUES

NG said that the Active Communities Development Fund had given Cheshire £70k to fund 2 projects over 3 years.  The money cannot be used to fund an access officer.  The deadline for bids is the end of January.  GR and NG to liaise over this.

ST gave details of Children’s Fund money that has been given to Halton.  It is to be used to develop social and leisure opportunities for children with disabilities.

KM suggested that the group have schemes ready for when money is ‘suddenly’ available.  There is not usually enough time for the group to put a new bid together before the deadline and money can be lost in this way.

EJ and CH told us about the football that meets on Monday evenings – young adults  from Pingot and Astmoor Day Centres.  KM said that money was available for kit and transport.

WIDENING THE GROUP and it’s future direction

We discussed the feasibility of widening the group.  ST has the original mailing list and will send minutes of this meeting and details of work that has already been done and invite them to our next meeting.  She will also contact the council’s publicity officer.

There is a need to define the aims of the group and outline its future direction.  PF gave some broad aims to NG.  MF emphasised the need for an agenda for each meeting.

Now that Mike Gelling has left, we need to arrange a new signatory for the bank account.  SL agreed to be the new signatory.

COME AND TRY IT DAY

It was decided to arrange another ‘Come and Try it Day’ for Sunday March 17 at Kingsway Leisure Centre, from 11am until 3pm.  ST to book the centre.  KM to ask members of ‘The Ball’ Rugby Club for assistance.

There will be a meeting to finalise details of the day on Thursday February 7 at 7:pm in the Town Hall.
