Matters arising
Grangeway Community Centre was judged to be a good venue for
our Runcorn meetings.
There has been no update on
ST to be asked to check on these issues before the
next meeting.
Funding for mailshots etc
Allen Gough from HVA, talked to us about the
Community Empowerment Fund. This has
been set up by the government to enable community and voluntary groups to have
a ‘voice’ in the community. The plan is
to elect a network panel that would feedback to the strategic partnership. He felt that we would be able to access the
fund and will send further details to ST before the next meeting.
Role of Forum
We discussed issues regarding the widening of the
group and felt that moves must be made.
Connexions should be invited to the next meeting. Once we become part of Merseyside (next
April), NG said that it would be worth drawing on their strengths and suggested
that we invite Pete Whyman, the Sports Development Officer.
MF spoke about using the group to discuss general
access issues and a sub-group be formed to deal specifically with sports
related issues.
In the light of this, we may need to develop a new
constitution. We certainly need to check
that there is a clause which outlines what is to be done with the funds, should
the Forum be disbanded for any reason.
Funding bid for new Sports
Club
NG told us that this had been approved, although he
had no details. As we plan to open in
November, it was decided that an emergency meeting be arranged between ST, GR
and SL. SL to liaise
with ST over this.
