This meeting was called to discuss the format of an arts event proposed for next year.  The Halton Together Network (voluntary and community groups in Halton) will stage the event to support the formation of a network of art groups who can come together to share ideas and offer support.  More importantly, this group will feed ideas through to the bodies responsible for implementing future strategic policy in the borough.

Date of the event

A date of Sunday 25th April 2004 (full day event) was agreed.

Venue

Suggestions were made for split venues of Widnes and Runcorn but this was not considered to be the best option as it may promote the division in the community.  Norton Priory was offered as a site and although the problems of access were highlighted this was accepted as the best venue.  Transport options will be explored, including contacting Halton Community Transport with regarding to supplying transport from both Runcorn and Widnes.

Format

Annie Holligan  The Galligu

No ideas yet on what they will contribute.  Feedback will be given at the next meeting

Angela Kaye      Hough Green Arts Group

An interactive display – quilt making.  A suggestion was made that a partnership/Halton Together quilt could be created.

Sue Ellison                  Centre 8 Theatre Group

A display as well as a performance.

John Yates                  St Mary’s Community Drama Group

A performance.  John’s group will only be available in the afternoon.

Steve Miller                 Norton Priory

Norton Priory to be offered as the venue on the basis of free entry to all visitors for the day.

Louise Hesketh          Halton Borough Council

A variety of displays, interactive workshops and performances.  Louise will contact other groups and give feedback in January.

Barbara Harrison      Traveller Education Service

A display of the work being done at the Widnes traveler site.

Event Name

Steve confirmed that this event can be advertised on the Norton Priory website but he needs to have details before the end of the year.  A name for the event must be confirmed by Friday 19th December.  A suggestion of ‘Arts in Partnership’ was made but it was felt that the word ‘Arts’ might be a bit restrictive and we should look at alternatives to broaden this title to encompass music, drama and dance before we decide to adopt it.  All ideas are very welcome.

Ideas

Each member was asked to bring details of what their group can offer to the next meeting:

§        What type of activity

§        How many times it can be repeated

§        How long it will last

§        For static displays, how much room do you need

Date/Time/Venue of Next Meeting

Next meeting will be held on Wednesday 21st January at HVA at 10am
