Copies of the previous minutes were distributed and all members were briefed on the progress so far with regard to discussions around the event.

v               Date

6th Feb was confirmed

v               Time

4-7pm was agreed.

v              Venue

Although Runcorn Town Hall had been suggested it was explained that this venue was not an option as we are unable to bring our own food.  This is a council policy and cannot be changed.  Venue will therefore remain as the Catalyst Museum.  An objection was raised that this event should therefore not celebrate Chinese New Year as a museum is not in keeping with the philosophy of the celebration.  It was agreed that the focus should not be the New Year but the event will still be opened by the Unicorn dancers.  If the dancers are able to remain at the event we would also like to close the event with a further display.

v             Event Name

A discussion followed with regard to a suitable name for the event and it was agreed as follows:

Faith & the Future ….believing & hoping together

v             Contributions

Each member was asked for their contribution – following was offered

o       Linda Hosty – TocH – will offer input on Christian denomination – static display, table required for artifacts and presentation to be made

o       Contact has been made with the Jewish resource centre who will loan display material to us for the event

o       John Dearden – Wellspring Christian Trust will offer a static display and a video presentation for 5-6 minutes

o       Margaret Eaton – representing Churches Together in Runcorn will look at a display around ‘faith impact on the community’.  The group are also thinking along the lines of a small altar with symbols of Christianity.  Details of size and structure of the display have been promised for the week commencing 2nd Feb.

o       Jimmy Tang has not yet put together a display and was asked to submit details as soon as possible.  An offer of food was also made.

o       Rahale Akram – contact has been made with local schools although the response has not been great.  Support has been offered by the Mosque in Warrington and a member will attend to give a small presentation on the day.  The Muslim display will consist of static boards and 2 tables were requested for artifacts.

o       Paula Wilkinson – Palacefields – a display will be submitted covering the different faiths taught within the school.  A short presentation will be made about the curriculum in general.

o       Halton College – although the international students were very keen to get involved they are much more interested in the cultural rather than the spiritual theme.  They will offer input to this event with regard to food and decoration of the venue.  A further meeting will be held with them to develop the theme of a cultural forum.

v             Programme

People were requested to inform HVA as soon as possible about

o       The number/size of display boards/number of tables

o       How long presentations will last

o       What they need if they are bringing food – eg service plates, hot plates etc

v             Costs

Members were asked to submit costs with regard to their contribution as soon as possible.

v             AOB

o       Assistance can be offered with regard to transporting displays to the venue and setting up but this must be arranged as soon as possible
