6.               Community Development Networking Event – 11th July.

Further to Steering Group’s suggestion to work in co-operation with other development workers, have been working closely with Yinka Yesufu, Eileen Stein and Nicci Shaw. Planning an event on 11/7/02 (possibly at Heath Centre) for people involved in community work (paid or unpaid). This event has two purposes :

v    To explore the creation of a Community Development Worker’s Forum in Halton

v    To explore the value of a network to support unpaid workers in the community – this could be an ideal opportunity to ‘kickstart’ the creation of a voluntary & community sectors network meeting regularly. If any members of the Steering Group would be interested in helping us to facilitate a workshop, this would be excellent.

This is also an opportunity to look at

·        benchmarking/performance standards for community    development work

·        an NVQ in Community Work

I do not have a written outline for the day as yet, but can forward.

7.               Election of LSP Representatives.

Electoral Reform Society require 6 weeks notice. Carole Parker has said that her understanding is that the original structures were replaced by project panels and no individuals were actually elected as representatives. On this basis, there is not now a need for elections to the SRB Management Board, as this would now ‘come under’ the LSP (?).

8.               Community Audit Update.

9.               Any Other Business.

Brook Chambers user group meeting tomorrow. Can the building be used as a community arts centre – can we accommodate Galligu, Community Radio and the Loose Music/Feedback Magazine Collective until 31.3.04 and see how it goes, while reserving downstairs as a resource?

Detailed workplan due at GONW; any thoughts or anyone wish to collaborate on it?

Evaluation for Community Groups event at Salford 26 July 1.30 – 4 p.m.

10.         Date of Next Meeting.
